In loving memory of Chester

                                                                      The story of Chester

Chester was very abused as a youngster. He was hard to catch, but when he got caught his old owners would beat him for running away. Then some friends of ours purchased him from these people, and turned him in to a wonderful riding horse. But Chester never did over come his fear of being beaten.

Let me tell you, under saddle he was the most well behaved horse that I've ever rode. He would go anywhere and do anything asked of him. When I first met my husband Ken, Chester belonged to him. He was trained to be a cutting horse and also for penning. Well he never made it as a cutting horse, he was just to clumsy. I figured it all out when I found out who Chester's sire was! It is the great Docs Paradise sire of many barrel racing champions.

That was when I had started training him for the barrels, we only ever made it to one gymkhanna. I was pregnant and it wasn't safe for me to ride anymore. I just couldn't wait for our son to be born, then Chester and I could start over where we'd left off.

But then on august  2  2005 Chester tragically died. 5 short minutes after my water broke Chester was hit by lightning in our front pasture. He did not suffer, Chester died instantly and there was nothing anyone could have done to save our beloved horse. Our yearlings Sunny and Bell both were by his side, they stood over him and tried everything to make Chester get up but nothing worked. The sadist part was to see Sunny so very traumatized, he wouldn't leave Chester alone.

Here it was to be one of the happiest day's of our life, but it was also one of the sadist. Chester was one of the greatest horse's around. He was token from us to soon at the young age of 11. Right in what some people say is a horse's prime. Chester now has nothing to be scared of and is truly free.
